Tattva // Packaging Design

Adobe Design Achievement Awards 2016 Semifinalist

Spices are sold in Indian markets loose and unbranded. Branded spices are sold pre-ground, in bottles or packets. Both sources are capable of having lost potency, or having traces of adulteration. Therefore, we wanted to create a packaging solution for spices so that they don't lose potency until the moment of usage. This is important to protect the incredible culinary heritage of Indian spices.
This packaging solution is a grinder bottle that contains whole spices, making sure they retain 100% of their flavor.

Tattva is a packaging design project done by a team comprising me and Tanuj Thomas Abraham

The purpose was to invoke the essence of a traditional Masala dabba, that is a quintessential part of every Indian kitchen. We have done so via material, pattern and color.

Personalized motifs inspired by Kasuti embroidery and Alchemic symbols.
